MEET PRAXIS.
Praxis Fernandez is an award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Praxis got her start in the filmmaking industry as an on-set Wardrobe P.A. After earning her Masters in VFX Compositing from NYU, she transitioned to the post-production arena, where she's worked as an Editor and GFX/VFX Generalist for the past ten years. She is now pursuing her lifelong dream of writing for Films and T.V.
As a Writer, Praxis draws inspiration from the folk and fairy tales told to her as a child growing up in Latin America. She enjoys creating worlds in which magical realism and dreams are vital to understanding her characters' desires-- worlds in which regular people living a humdrum existence are suddenly thrown into extraordinary situations. Because of this, her work often employs a blurred, almost invisible line between the oneiric state and "real life."
In the non-fiction realm, Praxis has created two T.V. docu-series: Let's Act Out! and New York Passport. The former highlights the importance of Arts-Integrated Education in our public schools. The latter promotes diversity and inclusion by profiling the peoples, places, and characters that make New York the world's capital. Praxis is currently writing and developing two feature films and a T.V. pilot.
